GSFC is a leading state Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) in Gujarat in the field of fertilizers and chemicals.

The projects, utilising 24 units of Suzlon’s S88–2.1 MW wind turbine, will be set up in wind farms operated by Suzlon in the Rajkot and Surendranagar districts of Gujarat. This is GSFC’s fifth order with Suzlon and is scheduled for completion and commissioning by September 2011.

The new projects will increase GSFC’s total wind power capacity to 123.4 MW. GSFC currently has existing projects of 73 MW in Gujarat located in the Kutch and Porbandar districts. GSFC’s 10 MW project at Bada village in the Kutch district is the company’s first wind energy project to be successfully registered under the UN Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), earning carbon credits. Other projects are in the process of being registered.

Speaking on the order Mr. Tulsi R Tanti, founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Suzlon Group said: “This repeat order underlines the trust our customers have in quality and reliability our products and best in-class services. We are proud of GSFC’s renewable energy initiatives and look forward to strengthening our relationship.

“Gujarat Government’s commitment towards sustainable development is truly commendable. The strong policy regime in the state creates a very favorable environment to develop a low-carbon economy. GSFC is Gujarat’s leading PSU and their conscious choice of wind energy to reduce their carbon footprint and mitigate climate change showcases the state’s dedication.”
